Sheree and Kristy met in the summer of 2009 after Sheree posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a vegan entrepreneur. The two hit it off and soon started planning the opening of their food cart. The cart made it's debut in January of 2010 on the corner of 13th & Oak. A few months in, and after much demand from regulars, the partners began their search for full restaurant space. The food cart closed on New Year's Eve 2010, and Cornbread Cafe opened its restaurant doors on the corner of 7th & Polk six months later.

Cornbread Cafe's mission is to provide a consistent, comforting, and quality dining experience. We endeavor to provide excellent customer service while remaining a fun, affordable, sustainable, community oriented restaurant that serves awesome vegan comfort food! It is our policy to show respect to customers, as well as employees, at all times. Cornbread Cafe strives to build a team of dedicated employees through our commitment to the success and happiness of our staff.

About 90% of our menu items are organic and made in house.

We source as many local ingredients as possible, and have a strict policy against using genetically engineered ingredients.

We strive to create as little waste as possible. Our food scraps go to local gardener, as well as our used oil.

It is our mission to continue to reduce our carbon footprint as we are able.
